The Vice President of Claims reports to President & CEO and is a key member of the Leadership Team
which provides you with the opportunity to be an authentic leader, making ethical decisions while
you inspire and motivate the claim’s team along the way. This position is based in Chatham-Kent,
Ontario with a hybrid of in-office and remote work.
As the Vice President of Claims, you will have a big impact on the achievement of
the overall strategic direction and objectives as you oversee the management of Claims
Operations for Kent & Essex Mutual. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving
employee engagement, efficient and effective work processes, quality service, effective indemnity
and legal expense control, proper reserving practices, creating operational efficiencies and
delivering on Key Performance Indicators (“KPIs”). The Vice President of Claims will be responsible
to provide visible and effective leadership ensuring that the corporate strategy, business plan
objectives, initiatives and priorities are implemented, clearly communicated and executed within
the functional area.
This role is dynamic in nature as the requirements for our policyholders, broker partners,
employees, and the company overall are ever changing as we progress and grow, therefore, the
successful candidate must have a proven track record of superior skills in management, leadership,
employee engagement, driving performance within the claims functional area and change management.
Additionally, this position will build lasting relationships with executive leadership, key
business partners, and other stakeholders.
The successful candidate will be a seasoned, innovative leader with at least 10 years of
progressive senior level experience in a senior claim’s management role. In addition to an
impressive professional career, this new leader will possess an undergraduate degree coupled
with advanced knowledge of complex claims handling concepts, practices, and techniques, as well as
experience in the adjudication of complex property and casualty claims. You are an inspiring and
genuine people person, with a proven commitment and ability to implement optimum standards of
service for our policyholders and broker partners while you create and develop a claims operational
team that is engaged, inspired, and committed to the overall mission and vision of Kent & Essex
Mutual as you oversee and direct the claims operations for our company.
