BairdHR is looking to hire a Permanent Plant Manager. My client in Brantford, ON is a well-established machining/production facility with a solid and diverse customer base. Clients ranging from small to large enterprise. They are growing at a fast pace!
This opportunity will allow you to establish yourself and demonstrate your capabilities to support the business while being an integral part of its growth. Major investments in a new facility and equipment have been made. To support these growth plans, we are in the search of a leader who is hands on, and is passionate about using their strong people skills (coaching and developing) resulting in exceptional managerial skills.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Plan, initiate and allocate work to the department while providing leadership to the day to day operations.
  • Work closely with all staff to ensure competency levels are meeting expectations. Perform performance reviews while coaching/developing staff on an ongoing basis.
  • Forecast future work assignments.
  • Co-ordinate the scheduling of all machines to make efficient use of the complete facility.
  • Supervise maintenance requirements to ensure that downtime is minimized and productivity is improved.
  • Ensure that all required tooling and programming is available as required by production.
  • Review the preparation of all job routing to ensure that correct manufacturing is performed.
  • Ensure proper supervision is maintained in all areas of the plant as required.
  • Ensure that jobs are manufactured in the most efficient manner and to best quality level.
  • Maintain regular liaison with management and workers relating to production problems and needs to meet company demands.
  • Review delivery requirements and machine production to eliminate missed commitments and improper manufacturing.
  • Promote continuous improvement.
  • Provide necessary support and communicate with all other departments to ensure proper flow to optimize productivity efficiently.  
  • Work with other department to maximize efficiencies, quality, safety and sales.
  • Work with the ownership team to prepare budgets and continuously monitor operational expenses in aim to achieving budgets.
REQUIREMENTS:
  • The ideal candidate has a minimum of 5 years experience in leading teams at a management operational level (15 plus production people and multiple departments)
  • Has experience in a custom machine shop. Laser/Plasma/Oxy facility. Fiber Optic & C02 Metal Laser Cutting Technology. Carbon Steel, Stainless, Aluminium, Copper or Brass materials.
  • Strong computer/Microsoft office skills (spreadsheets and reporting)
  • Proven record of customer relationship management, including effective communication, problem solving, business development support etc.
  • A proven change agent, driven to succeed while building a strong team.
  • Manage and monitor financial and key indicator performance including P&L, production targets, safety, quality & delivery etc.
  • Continuous improvement champion with knowledge of lean, kaizen tools etc.
  • Good in operational planning and deployment to produce desired results.
