Premium Accounting Analyst (15 Month Contract)

As a member of our Finance and Accounting team, your responsibilities will include:

  • Completing reconciliation of the board billing book and related transactions, individual lines deferred payments and revenues by product lines, taxes, surplus balances and the general ledger.
  • Preparing special financial reports and remaining informed of special projects while ensuring that special revenues and expenditures are tracked by the accounting system.
  • Interacting with individual clients and liaising with carriers to ensure board audits are completed in accordance with established standards.
  • Preparing year end reconciliation schedules for all premium transactions including premium, taxes, surplus and revenue and where required reconciles activity with carriers.
  • Following procedures to maintain accounting controls and discussing or advising manager on needed actions outside established procedures.

If this opportunity sounds interesting, and you meet the following requirements, you might be the person we’re looking for. We need someone who has:

  • Final stages of completion in a recognized accounting designation program (i.e. CA, CGA or CMA).
  • A minimum of three years’ experience in accounting.
  • Demonstrated ability to collect, compare and analyze information and figures in great detail while using strategic approaches to understand complex problems and concepts.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite applications.
  • Experience in the group insurance accounting field will be considered an asset.
  • The ability to communicate in French will be considered an asset.
