We are currently seeking an Accounting Supervisor for our Southwestern Ontario offices. This position is primarily based in our Waterloo office, with frequent travel to both our Guelph and London offices.
The Accounting Supervisor oversees the day-to-day operations of the Accounting function for our Southwestern Ontario offices. This includes overseeing the functions of Accounts Payable, Billings, Cash Receipts and Trusts. You will be responsible for leading and motivating a team of 6 individuals, which includes providing guidance and direction as required, managing workflow, and conducting performance reviews on an annual basis.
Other key responsibilities of this role include the following:
- Act as a liaise for all Southwestern Ontario lawyers regarding monthly Billing Objectives, and other accounting inquires;
- At the direction of the Director of Administration, prepare Annual Expense and Revenue Budget, which includes, drafting, finalizing, and presenting your plan accordingly;
- Prepare a variety of weekly and monthly reports, with comments and recommendations are required;
- Oversee and prepare year end reporting;
- Aid in the structure and implementation of National Accounting Policies and liaise with the National Accounting team;
- Review and sign off on Miltom Management expenses and review and approve all Accounting Reconciliation reports;
- Other duties as required.
This position requires:
- Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and a basic knowledge of tax; Knowledge of Law Society guidelines;
- Strong communication skills accompanied by proven leadership skills;
- Excellent computer skills;
- Effective workflow prioritization and strong organization skills;
- Flexibility to juggle changing priorities;
- The ability to work independently and with minimal instruction.
In order to be considered the candidate must have or is in the late stages of pursuing, a professional Accounting Designation, accompanied by a minimum of 3-5 years experience in an Accounting Clerk/Bookkeeper role in a professional services environment, as well as previous supervisory experience.
