Our client in the Waterloo area is in search of a Junior Electrical Engineering Technologist to join their team. In this role you will be responsible for the development of designs by modifying existing products lines to meet customer requirements. Provide application support to production, quotations, and sales. Assist in implementing and maintaining the quality and productivity objectives of the company.
Major responsibilities of position:
• Prepare approval drawings, production drawings, bills of material, and verify that the specifications conform to certification standards / customer requirements
• Provide technical support to customer service and our regional sales offices regarding custom product design, and certification requirements
• Work within engineering and certification guidelines
• Aid in troubleshooting issues in electrical and mechanical systems for daily orders
• Prepare weldment drawings for custom panelboard switchracks and frames
• Maintain product BOMs and engineering processes
• Provide ongoing support to production, and planning departments
• Support quality standards and procedures with all groups
• Update existing products to ensure certification compliance
• Participate in corrective and preventive action projects
• Seek to improve product standardization and harmonization
Skills & Qualifications:
Electrical Engineering Technologist graduate and/or 1-2 years of related work experience. AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.
*Experience in the following areas:
• AutoCAD Inventor, AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks 3D
• PAA System, Oracle MRP system
• CSA – Design for Hazardous Location
• Canadian Electrical Code
• Able to read and write accurate detailed technical information (wiring diagrams, mechanical assembly, and detail part drawings)
• Knowledge of hazardous area electrical systems
