Job Description

North Aircraft Industries designs and manufactures composite structural components for aircraft, including installation of aircraft systems in those components.  We specialize in cost effective development of prototypes and low-volume series production.  We are currently seeking a Composite Technician to join our team! 

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Laminate composite aircraft parts in accordance with drawings and process specifications
  • Cut cloth to required size using scissors
  • Press layers of pre-impregnated cloth onto molds in a pre-determined ply orientation
  • Remove excess resin and smooth out wrinkles and air pockets using hands, scrapers or squeegees
  • Mix catalysts into resins and apply to cloth using brushes
  • Trim excess cloth from molds using scissors
  • Maintain good housekeeping practices, Clean As You Go (CAYG)
  • Install vacuum bagging as required
  • Install foam core as required
  • Complete work orders in accordance with proper procedures
  • Participate with positive, collaborative attitude in continuous improvement and safety discussions regarding products and processes
  • Participate in troubleshooting discussions regarding products and processes
  • Participate in production planning meetings as needed with positive can-do attitude
  • Maintain good relations and open communication with all employees
  • Perform all duties in compliance with health and safety policies
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
Skills & Experience Required
  • 2 to 4 years experience with laminating and bagging of composite components of various complexity
  • Good hand-eye coordination
  • Ability to understand drawings, work orders, and process specifications
  • Good communication skills, verbal and written
  • Effective time management skills
  • Willingness to cross-train in other functions of composite fabrication
  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to use hand tools
Education & Training Required
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • College Diploma in Aircraft Structural Repair considered an asset
  • Composites Training considered an asset
Competative wage: $18.00 to $24.00 per hour depending on experience
9/80 schedule: 9 working days in a two-week period which allows for a three-day weekend every other week
