Overall Responsibilities

The Industrial Electrician will work as part of a team to install, test, troubleshoot and repair electrical wiring, fixtures, automated and control devices and related equipment in a manufacturing environment. This individual will have the ability to read and interpret drawings, blueprints, schematics and specifications in order to provide troubleshooting and repair services. The Industrial Electrician will also routinely perform preventative maintenance on all equipment and components in order to ensure the continued safe, efficient and effective operations of all equipment and fixtures utilized by the organization.

Accountabilities

  • Program and modify  PLC programs (Allen Bradley & Siemens).
  • Create and/or modify FANUC and ABB Robot programs.
  • Diagnose electrical faults on laser equipment (Trumpf & Rofin).
  • Provide effective and efficient troubleshooting expertise on all automated machines using electrical schematics and PLC logic.
  • Supervise outside contractors when required and ensure compliance of safety standards.
  • Maintain basic building equipment and conduct repairs such as lighting, building electrical, etc.
  • Ensure adequate supply of electrical and controls spare parts in inventory.
  • Work with our engineering department to ensure that spare parts, training, manuals and parts standardization are adequately addressed during the installation of new equipment.
  • Support and complete predictive and preventative maintenance.
  • Maintain preventative maintenance documentation.
  • Involvement in Continuous Improvement Projects.
  • Ensure sub-contractors adhere to all plant safety standards.
  • Support production with machine setup and operation when required.

Minimum Requirements

Education and Accreditation

  • Completion of a certified apprentice program.
  • Valid Ontario 442A Industrial Electrician license or Red Seal License(journeyman or higher).
  • A minimum of 3 to 5 years of Industrial Electrician experience working on robotic and automated machinery.
  • Bust have a good understanding of PLC’s and Robotic programs.

Technical Skills and Knowledge

  • Manufacturing experience is a must.
  • Strong English communication both written and verbal.
  • Comfortable working with computer applications like Word, Excel, Outlook etc.
  • Exposure to programing and modifying PLC and robotic programs.
  • Previous experience in automated robotic cell commissioning would be considered an asset.

Working Conditions

  • Night shift
  • Hands on manufacturing working with automated machinery.
  • 75 to 100% of time spent standing on a concreate floor.
  • Tools: Maintenance staff are expected to supply their own working tools; candidates will be given an annual allowance.
