About Us:

Don-Mor CARSTAR Collision and Automotive was founded by Don Morton in 1980. We are a full service collision repair and mechanical facility as well as aluminum vehicle repair shop.

Role Summary:

The HR/H&S Coordinator is responsible for assisting with the daily human resources and health and safety needs of the company. These include, but not limited to, assisting with payroll, benefits administration, training, employee relations, and more. The incumbent will provide exemplary customer service to internal and external customers while maintaining the highest standards of accuracy, timeliness, and compliance.

The primary objective of this role is to provide overall functional assistance with Human Resources and Health & Safety support for the company.

Duties & Responsibilities

Human Resources Coordinator:

  • Assist with ensuring accuracy of time and attendance data
  • Assist in benefits administration, including processing new hires, terminations, and employee changes
  • Record employee status updates, such as change of personal information, rate increases, and terminations
  • Create new job listings and post to external job boards
  • Schedule interviews with hiring managers and candidates
  • Coordinate background screening and reference checks of candidates
  • Prepare offer and new hire documents
  • Organize the new hire and onboarding processes, including review of company policies, collection and processing of new hire paperwork, and completion of orientation
  • Conduct and analyze exit interviews, determining areas of improvement
  • Create and maintain training matrix to track completion of training
  • Schedule employee evaluations and assist with evaluation documentation
  • Receive and address employee questions regarding company policies, procedures, and company benefits
  • Responsible for various administrative tasks

Health & Safety Coordinator:

  • Serve as a member of the Joint Health and Safety Committee
  • Ensure the Health and Safety board(s) are maintained with the necessary documentation
  • Assist with injury and incident investigations
  • Conduct health and safety audits/inspections
  • Ensure Safety Data Sheets are updated
  • Track PPE inventory, including first aid kits, masks, gloves, etc.
  • Maintain training matrix and schedule training (first aid, new hire training, etc.)
  • Update OHSA and other health and safety policies as required
  • Monitor general health and safety procedures and attitudes

Education & Experience

  • Human Resources Certificate and/or Diploma
  • 3 years previous experience in automotive or a similar industry

  • Intermediate or advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
