AN EXCITING OPPORTUNITY

The Manager, Wellington Community Office manages all fundraising initiatives and oversees the delivery of outreach and community services for a defined local area. By successfully leading a team of fundraising professionals, support staff and volunteers, the manager is responsible for collaborating with provincial teams to ensure that the community office is achieving its goals.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for the achievement of fundraising goals and monitoring progress against plan to ensure targets are met.  Building the annual revenue and expense budget for the community office, as well as developing an annual operational plan that is in alignment with the organizations strategic plan.
  • Lead a team of staff and volunteers to achieve the revenue and mission delivery goals of the community office.
  • Develops and manages relationships, including existing donors and potential donors, sponsors, media, and others, with a primary focus on developing revenue generation opportunities. This will also ensure the Society is visible in the community and reaches its full potential for both mission and cancer control initiatives.
  • Identifies, attracts and retains leaders in the community to engage in volunteer leadership roles.
  • Seeks partnerships with other related agencies to complement programs/services offered by the Society that build its profile and align with increasing revenue objectives, community and volunteer mobilization and engagement.
  • Facilitates effective communication between the various levels of the Ontario Division offices.
  • Participate in region planning activities, assess the local capacity to raise funds and deliver Society programs and services within the context of broader organizational plans.
  • Ensure that policies and procedures are adhered to by volunteers and staff.
  • Works in compliance with the provisions of The Occupational Health & Safety Act and its regulations, and complies with the Society’s Health & Safety Policy.
  • Other projects/duties as assigned.

 

Staff Management Responsibilities

 

  • In collaboration with the Director for the region, develops objectives for all direct reports and manages individual performance to ensure achievement of goals.
  • Creates a positive work environment which attracts and retains high calibre individuals.
  • Recruits and retains qualified staff to meet resourcing needs.
  • Supports the team in achieving their commitments and departmental objectives.
  • Identifies developmental needs and implements tactics to reduce the gaps identified.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5-7 years of related general management experience including demonstrated experience in staff management, implementation and monitoring of a performance management process. Providing leadership to, and working in partnership with volunteers is an asset.
  • Post-secondary education, preferably in business; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • CFRE accreditation is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated success in fundraising activities, donor relations and relationship management.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively forge, manage and maintain long-standing stakeholder relationships.
  • Proven ability to take initiative and carry projects to completion with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to lead a team and coach others to achieve common goals.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to exercise sound judgment in relations with a diverse group of volunteers, staff, clients, other agencies and healthcare professionals, suppliers and the general public.
  • General financial management skills to meet/exceed revenue targets, ability to manage operations within an established budget; knowledge of government receipting requirements.
  • Knowledge of philanthropy and employer sponsored volunteerism in the corporate giving sector an asset.
  • Strong MS Office skills (Word/Excel/Outlook/PowerPoint).
  • Knowledge of Canadian Cancer Society policies and procedures would be an asset.
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle and able to travel within Ontario.
  • A Criminal Records Check is required.
  • Non-smoker.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Regular office environment.
  • Regular evening and weekend work; adjusts hours and schedule as necessary to meet the demands of the community.
  • Regular travel to attend off-site meetings and events within the local communities, occasional travel beyond to attend scheduled meetings and events.
  • May work outdoors and be exposed to elements during key special events.
