The University Advancement division plays a leading role in strengthening awareness of and support for the University’s mission and goals by leading the alumni relations and fundraising efforts across campus and beyond. All departments within the Division, build enduring alumni and public trust through understanding and support for Western University in a coordinated campus-wide effort that results in the engagement and funding needed to make an impact. There are 3 departments within the Division – Departments of Development, Alumni Relations, and Advancement Operations.
    
Responsibilities 
    

The Donor Relations Associate will work in collaboration with a diverse group of stakeholders to foster and nurture long-term and meaningful relationships between the University and its donors to effectively steward donors and strengthen their financial support of Western. The Associate will lead the development and distribution of stewardship reports and draft fund provisions, donor agreements, acknowledgement letters and other documentation related to donations. The role will also act as a point of contact for a variety of internal and external inquiries related to donor reporting processes.
    
Qualifications 
    

Education:
-   Undergraduate Degree with a Major in business administration, Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or other related discipline

Experience:
-   3 years' experience in a fundraising environment with donor stewardship and communications responsibilities
-   Experience writing and producing fundraising and development communications and reports
-   Experience managing information in a complex database

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
-   In-depth understanding of project management principles and techniques
-   Familiarity with financial/accounting systems and reporting procedures
-   Knowledge of federal and provincial legislation affecting charities and investment principles
-   Ability to work in a manner that models best practices in confidentiality standards
-   Self-driven, critical thinker who is highly skilled at anticipating and resolving stakeholder relation issues
-   Detail-oriented with an ability to function and process information with high levels of accuracy
-   Commitment to ongoing professional development with a desire to take on new challenges
-   A well-defined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation and conflict resolution skills
-   Ability to multi-task and maintain an organized and effective personal work environment
-   Proven ability and natural inclination to develop relationships by interacting with people in a professional, respectful, and diplomatic manner
