AN EXCITING OPPORTUNITY

 

Under the direction of the Manager, the Fundraising Coordinator is responsible for the planning and implementation of events at the local level. The Fundraising Coordinator contributes to enhancing the quality and profile of the Society fundraising in the community.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Collaborates with the Manager to develop an annual fundraising plan. Monitors progress against the plan and advises the Manager when adjustments to the plan are required.
  • Assumes responsibility for all aspects of detailed planning and implementation of fundraising events.
  • Schedules and coordinates logistics and people for each initiative. Manages acquisition of materials and resources. Is available on-site during events to ensure last minute requirements are addressed.
  • Tracks and confirms invoices associated with all events and performs related troubleshooting.
  • Looks for opportunities to customize/enhance fundraising initiatives. Assesses local needs, conditions and historical results, and develops/recommends modifications to increase unit revenues.
  • Represents the Society at events. Builds external relationships by speaking at community venues to increase the profile of the Canadian Cancer Society and its fundraising efforts throughout the community.
  • Proactively liaises with the appropriate staff on policy and other related fundraising topics. Shares information on local fundraising accomplishments that may be of benefit to other units/regions.
  • Oversees the work of fundraising volunteers. Acts as a resource to support their efforts; provides orientation, coaching and guidance.
  • May be responsible for supervising the work of level 2 and 3 fundraising staff. Provides training in all aspects (computer, tasks, etc.), assigns and monitors work, addresses developmental needs in collaboration with the Community Office Manager.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Manager.
  • Work in compliance with the provisions of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and its regulations.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • Post-secondary education in a related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience. CFRE designation an asset.
  • 2 years working experience in the fundraising area (events, campaigns and working with volunteers), preferably in a multi-level organization within diverse communities. Supervisory experience is an asset.
  • Ability to work independently and on various tasks simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated experience in overseeing tasks of others and to work with others on a job to achieve the best results.
  • Must be highly motivated and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good oral and written communication, interpersonal and presentation skills. Ability to speak to groups of people in a variety of settings.
  • Demonstrated experience in problem solving and good judgement.
  • Demonstrated time-management and organizational skills. Flexibility with changing priorities and ability to remain focused to meet targeted timelines.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Outlook/Word/Excel).
  • Demonstrated experience in using databases and ability to be able to train on databases; and the ability to learn and adapt to new technology.
  • Positive attitude; ability to take responsibility and be accountable; ability to deal with change in the workplace and be innovative; respect for others.
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle.
  • A criminal record check is required.
  • Non-smoker.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS

 

  • Office environment with occasional requirements to work outside of regular office hours
  • Some evening and weekend work required.
  • Some travel required (regularly within greater local area, occasionally beyond)
  • Works outdoor and exposed to elements during key events.
  • Set up and take-down at events.
  • Regular lifting and carrying up to 20 lbs.
