Operator 2 – Temporary Full Time

START NOVEMBER 17, 2014 FOR APPROX 5 MONTHS


Applications clearly marked "Roads Heavy Equipment Operator" will be received by the undersigned until 4:00 p.m., October 8, 2014.

The successful applicant will operate single/tandem axle dump trucks and other utility vehicles, including combination plow/wing units for winter maintenance activities, such as plowing, salting, sanding and snow/ice removal. You will perform snow/ice removal from roadsides, using hand tools, tractor loaders and snowplow/dump truck, as well as all roads maintenance activities, such as cold/hot patching, tree cutting, dead animal/debris removal and road patrols. Install and remove snow fences, perform maintenance activities and traffic control duties.

Through the attainment of a Grade 12 secondary school education, you have the ability to read and understand policy, procedural and instructive material, and basic writing and arithmetic skills. You also have 2 years’ experience in the proper operation and use of related equipment as well as a working knowledge of all road building requirements and all relevant standards, policies and legislation. Your excellent communication skills, ability to read, understand the interpret Traffic Control plans, valid Class D driver’s licence with Z (Air Brake) endorsement, and acceptable driving record make you the ideal candidate. WHIMIS, Chain Saw and Bucket training would be an asset. A driving abstract and police check must be obtained.

This is a full-time position, 40 hours/week, offering a competitive wage.
