Junior Financial Analyst
Reporting to the Senior Financial Analyst, this challenging position will be responsible for:
• Assisting planning and capital construction personnel with capital budgets
• Preparation of financial reports related to capital expenditures periodically throughout the fiscal year
• Maintenance of an in-depth working knowledge of Ministry’s capital funding formula, while leading development and maintenance of a long term capital plan
• Ensuring the Board’s compliance with Public Sector Accounting Board recommendations for local governments related to the reporting of tangible capital assets and deferred capital contributions
• Preparation of the salary and benefits budget for our transportation consortium and to serve as back up for the Board salary and benefit budget
• Working in collaboration with the Senior Financial Analyst to monitor budgets, prepare variance analysis, projections and financial reporting for management
• Working closely with budget holders to assist with budget monitoring and support
• Assisting with year-end audit preparation
• Other duties as assigned
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
• Diploma or degree in a business-related field
• Professional accounting designation or actively pursuing a designation
• 3+ years experience in a similar role
• Demonstrated proficiency with technology and advanced computer applications (Excel, Access, Word)
• Advanced analytical skills and ability to work independently
• Excellent communication and language skills
DESIRABLE ASSETS:
• School board or other public sector experience
• Diploma in School Board Administration
• Knowledge of MS Dynamics NAV
SALARY RANGE: $54,625 - $64,263 per year in accordance with the provisions of the PASS Terms of Employment
