This is a full-time position offering a competitive salary and benefit package. The position requires excellent blueprint reading skills and a good knowledge of manufacturing and welding processes. This position reports to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager.


The typical job duties are as follows;

1.1 Determine best manufacturing processes to fabricate heavy weldments/assemblies
1.2 Create accurate and detailed Manufacturing Instructions/Routings using Visual ERP
1.3 Create “flat” layouts and burning templates using Autocad Inventor
1.4 Create/update plasma burning programs and nests using Pronest
1.5 Design welding fixtures/templates and testing components as required
1.6 Assist in quoting new fabricated parts, weldments and assemblies
1.7 Control and maintain the engineering drawings and specification library
1.8 Assist Purchasing, Quality Assurance and Material Control Departments as required
1.9 Liaise with customer on design clarifications / deviation requests – travel as required
1.10 Investigate manufacturing quality issues/variances - implement corrective solutions
1.11 Lead in implementing continuous improvements and cost reduction initiatives
1.12 Prioritize work and co-ordinate with manufacturing to meet required production schedules
1.13 Establish supplier relationships to better communicate requirements and needs
1.14 Participate / produce data for I.S.O. registration
1.15 Assist maintenance personnel to ensure equipment is properly used and maintained
1.16 Assist in evaluation, procurement and launch of new manufacturing equipment/processes
1.17 Comply with all procedures documented in the Quality Management System
1.18 Work closely with the Manufacturing Engineering Manager to ensure departmental and company goals are understood, targeted and met. Complete special projects as assigned.

Educational Requirements

- Mechanical / Manufacturing Engineering Technician or Technologist
- Proficient in 3D Mechanical Design
- CET, B.Ap. Sc. Engineering (Mechanical)

Experience / Skill Requirements

- Highly organized, detail orientated, able to work accurately in a fast paced environment
- Strong inter-personal, analytical and communicating skills – team player
- Good knowledge of metal working equipment and processes – welding knowledge
- MS Office software – Excel, Word, Access - ERP knowledge
- I.S.O. / Q.S. 9000 / Total Quality Management (T.Q.M.) knowledge/experience
- Engineering standards / systems / record keeping
- Plasma cutting knowledge / experience
