The Opportunity

The Co-operators is looking for a Corporate Accounting Specialist for an 18 month contract position in Guelph, Ontario. The Corporate Accounting Specialist is responsible for all aspects of consolidated financial accounting and reporting. This role requires a seasoned Chartered Accountant with experience in consolidations, accounting for acquisitions and divestitures, financial statement preparation, accounting policy and complex accounting issues. The scope and complexity of this position is such that the Corporate Accounting Specialist regularly deals with diverse accounting matters which require sound knowledge of The Co-operators Group of Companies, as well as insurance industry and Ontario Securities Commission requirements.

Your Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years related business or accounting experience
• Minimum of 1 year consolidation experience required
• Experience with acquisitions, divestitures, non-controlling interests
• Chartered Accountant with 5 years public accounting experience
• Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously with minimal supervision
