Technologist – Environment, Health and Safety (HAS 40204)
Environment, Health and Safety Services

Location: London
Employment Group: Support
Hours:  35 hours per week.  Monday to Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. 
Pay Details:  $35.39 per hour
Closing Date:  Open Until Filled

Note:  This is a full-time position (35 hours per week). 

Duties:  As part of the team, and under the direction of the Manager, Environment, Health and Safety Services, the incumbent provides technical support for the development, implementation and maintenance of environment, health and safety management systems; conducts risk assessments, workplace inspections, audits and investigations; provides technical expertise on a wide range of OHS topics; conducts and coordinates safety reviews of new or modified equipment; develops and delivers training, limited industrial hygiene sampling, and coordinates designated substance handling and hazardous waste management. The incumbent also participates in emergency response, creates reports, and reviews personal protective equipment as required. 

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Post-secondary 3-year diploma/degree in Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science or Occupational Health and Safety
  • Equivalent related disciplines may be considered
  • Professional Certifications in Canadian Registered Safety Professional Designation (CRSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) or Registered Occupational Health Technologist (ROHT) or Occupational Health and Safety Technologist (OHST) required
  • Minimum 3 years directly related Industrial Hygiene or Environmental Science experience requiring regular use of advanced math skills, trigonometry and logarithms
  • Diverse experience in industrial or related fields of Occupational Health and Safety to compliment the wide range of technical programs offered by the College
  • Demonstrated strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a team
  • Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills
