About Us

Network for Economic and Social Trends (NEST), the flagship research and policy alliance in the Faculty of Social Science at Western University, is the umbrella organization for all eight Research Centres within Social Science. NEST produces community impact by conducting world-class multidisciplinary research to address social and economic challenges of our time, and by training the next generation of leading researchers in academia, the private and non-profit sectors, and government.

Responsibilities

NEST is setting up a Research Consultancy to provide graduate students and postdoctoral fellows with the opportunity to gain experience conducting and disseminating research outside of academia, with community impact. The Research Coordinator/Grant Proposal Writer will support the development, coordination and operationalization of the Research Consultancy involving multiple projects and partners. This involves advertising the Consultancy to potential partners, successfully writing proposals and bringing in non-academic research grants and contracts, and coordinating teams to work on these projects, while providing administrative oversight of the progress of the projects and tracking outputs and outcomes. The Research Coordinator/Grant Proposal Writer will ensure that each proposal conforms to Western's and the funding agency policies, procedures and criteria, and will also foster collaboration among researchers within Western Social Science. The goal is for the Consultancy to become self-funded by December 2023 due to the volume of contracts and grants that are brought in.
