Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Design mold without supervision to internal and customer standards
- Develop DFM in order to improve part and mold design feasibility
- Develop parting line of molds
- Develop robust and practical mold actions
- Design review: ensure the mold is designed to internal and external customer standards
- Provide mold making team with clear instructions and explanation on component drawings and
dimensions
- Create and follow the Bill of Material to ensure that it is up to date and that components are ordered on
schedule
- Involved in shop to ensure mold building stay on track to progress and schedule
- Prepare and present mold designs at customer meetings, i.e PowerPoint presentations
- Train and motivate junior mold designers to reach their potential in the design department
Required Skills/Qualifications:
- 5 to 10 years of experience as injection mold designer for automotive interior plastic parts
- Extensive 3D solid and surface modelling and NX-Mold Wizard experience
- Unigraphics experience is a must
- Ability to read detailed drawings
