Job Description
Project Engineer
Our client is recruiting for a Project Engineer to join their growing organization. We are seeking a motivated and driven individual with a Mechanical or Chemical engineering background who is seeking a challenging and growth oriented position with stable reputable company. Responsibilities:
- This position is accountable for proposal, justification, design, procurement, construction, commissioning and training related to projects in all areas of the plant.
- Assists in developing Energy Management Program, ways to minimize consumption of utilities and waste heat recovery.
- The incumbent also assists the Maintenance Supervisor to resolve critical maintenance issues and determines methods of improving production / process improvements.
- Supervises maintenance activities / time sheets during absence of maintenance supervisor.
- Determine project requirements and supervise safe installations of projects.
- Commissioning of projects including training to all affected personnel.
- Detailed designs and prepare equipment and service specifications.
- Review / Troubleshoot problems.
- Develop solution through maintenance manual, contact with suppliers/manufacturers, process observation, ordering parts, instruction to tradesperson/contractors on repairs.
- Development / Implementation / Reviewing of equipment PM and Predictive Maintenance activities and providing services for CMMS application.
- Assist in summer shutdown activities and CAPEX planning.
- Energy stats monthly report and project monthly report.
- Ways to minimize usage / wastage of utilities (Water, Nitrogen, Natural gas, Hydro) + ways to recover hear / energy.
- Performance and operation of boiler/compressor/cooling tower/chiller etc.
· Bachelor of Engineering / Bachelor of Applied Sciences.
· 5-8 years of progressive experience in a similar role.
· Experience in the chemical or batch process industry is preferred but not critical.
· CAD experience.
· Project management experience including larger capital projects would be an asset.
· Must have excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills.
· A proactive problem solver.
· Union experience would be an asset but not mandatory.
· Must be a team player with excellent people management skills.
