A Canadian leader in the steel fabrication and material handling industry has a permanent full-time opportunity for a Cost Estimator. From concept to completion, this position will work with our sales team to prepare accurate cost estimates and customer quotes for our products. Primary Duties

• Work with sales department and customers to understand customer requirements
• Prepare accurate and timely quotes within required deadlines for returnable steel containers and other material handling equipment using Excel
• Produce concept drawings for customer reference and drawings for costing of outsourced components
• Use customer quote forms and portals as well as ERP software
• Engage with designers, prototype and manufacturing departments as required

Education, Qualifications & Skills

• Post-secondary education in mechanical, industrial, or manufacturing engineering
• Experience in a steel fabrication/weld environment
• Strong knowledge base in manufacturing processes (cut, form, weld, paint, assemble, injection mold, vac form) and materials (steel, foam, rubber, plastics, paint friendly fabrics, hardware)
• Advanced knowledge of SolidWorks (AutoCAD Inventor or Catia acceptable)
• Above average ability to advance multiple tasks to completion using strong organizational, computer, written & verbal communication, project management, conflict resolution and negotiation skills
• Must demonstrate the ability to interact with customers and colleagues in a positive manner
