Pharmacy Technician /Assistant- CHATHAM PHARMASAVE
Floater  (Chatham, ON & St. Thomas, ON)

Summary of the Position 

• The Pharmacy Technician/Assistant performs the technical functions required within the daily operation of the pharmacy retail service including but not restricted to medication receiving, order transcribing (order entry and verification), packaging, compounding, labelling, distribution (stocking, dispensing), inventory control, record - keeping and other administrative functions to support the operation of the pharmacy. The Pharmacy Technician/Assistant will work under the direct supervision of a licensed Pharmacist and should incorporate knowledge of pharmaceutical sciences to provide optimal pharmacy retail services.

Duties and Responsibilities

 Pharmaceutical

• Help patients who are dropping off or picking up prescription orders;
• Enter prescription orders into the computer;
• Create a profile of the patient's health and insurance information in the computer or update the patient's profile;
• Prepare the pharamacy inventory;
• Screen telephone calls for the pharmacist;
• Compound oral solutions, ointments, and creams;
• Prepackage bulk medications;

Professional

• Assist the pharmacist, under direct supervision, in the practice of pharmacy retail services;
• Communicate with prescribers and their agents to obtain refill authorization;
• Maintain an awareness of developments in the community and pharmaceutical fields that relate to job responsibilities;
• Assist in supervising and training new employees;
• Assist other pharmacy technicians;

Administrative

•     Assist in promoting the "Live Well" programs and Pharmasave brand products to patients, customers, and other health care providers;
• Assist pharmacist in scheduling and maintaining workflow in accordance with the dispensary and professional area so fthe pharamcy;
• Participate in staff meetings as required;
• Maintain knowledge of loss prevention techniques;

Qualifications
Education

• Pharmacy Technician Certification from a recognized Pharmacy Technician training program is preferred;

Experience

• 1 - 2 years of experience in the past three years as a Pharmacy Technician/Assistant in retail pharmacy.

• Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to communciate orally and written effectively, courteously and tactfully;
• Ability to work under time contraints and meet deadlines;
• Ability to work in a team environment;
• Must have previous proven good performance and attendance records;
• Ability to respect confidentiality of patient data;
• Knowledge of computer operations;
• Knowledge of medication brand and generic names;
• Knowledge of insurance and third-party payment systems;
• Knowledge of the Kroll system;

Work Location
This position is primarily for work at our Chatham Pharmasave location - 60 Keil Drive South, Chatham, Ontario; However, the position will also require work for time to time at our Pharmasave Elgin Mall location - 417 Wellington Street, St. Thomas, Ontario.

Salary
This position is a full time permanent position to start as soon as possible. The hourly wage is $22.00 per hour.
