AN EXCITING OPPORTUNITY

Under the direction of the Director, Relay For Life, and based in the provincial office (Toronto), the Senior Manager, Relay For Life, leads a team of Relay Youth Specialists to develop and manage Ontario’s Relay For Life Youth Program and directly deliver 100+ events to meet aggressive revenue goals.  In addition, this role serves as the development lead for the National Relay For Life Youth Program.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Leads and manages the creation, development and delivery of the Canadian Cancer Society Relay For Life youth program.
  • Serves as program lead for the National Relay For Life Youth Program accountable for program development, materials, training and support.
  • Works in collaboration with Manger, Relay For Life, Community, to ensure alignment and strategic growth of both the Community and Youth Relay Programs.
  • Develops work plans, leads and empowers the Youth Program Specialists to deliver 100+ elementary, high school, and post secondary school  events to meet revenue and recruitment goals.
  • Identifies and executes new opportunities to promote the program and enhance recruitment and revenue opportunities for the program in Ontario and nationwide.
  • Identifies and executes opportunities to enhance relationships with Youth Program stakeholders (staff advisors, administration, committees, community members).
  • Identifies and executes opportunities to enhance relationships with youth leadership organizations as a recruitment channel for the program.
  • Leads the Youth Program Specialists to develop and implement a series of youth leadership forums (Relay University) to inform and motivate youth Relay leaders to deliver Relay at their school.
  • Collaborates with community offices and other staff teams to develop and deliver a unified approach to engaging and working with youth across fundraising, volunteering, advocacy and mission activities.
  • Creates, maintains, and strengthens online and offline reporting tools for the community and youth programs. 
  • Collects and analyzes data to evaluate results, capture trends, identify revenue opportunities and make recommendations to support the growth of Relay For Life.
  • Monitors and evaluates trends and developments in areas of responsibility to identify new program opportunities and enhancements to grow revenue.
  • Manages stakeholder surveys, analyzes results, and provides recommendations.
  • Develops and monitors budget for areas of responsibility.
  • Provides input to the development of departmental goals, objectives, policies and procedures.
  • Member of the National Relay Operations Group.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Builds and maintains a successful team that implements work plans to meet revenue objectives.
  • Creates a positive work environment which attracts and retains high calibre individuals.
  • Recruits and retains qualified staff to meet resourcing needs.
  • Supports the team in achieving their performance objectives.
  • Identifies developmental needs and implements tactics to reduce the identified gaps.
  • Provides a safe and healthy work environment for team members and relevant stakeholders.
  • Ensures team members work in compliance with the Society’s health & safety policy, the Occupational Health & Safety Act and its regulations.
  • Works in compliance with the provisions of The Occupational Health & Safety Act and its regulations.
  • Reviews and complies with the Health and Safety Policy.
 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Related post-secondary education and/or equivalent combination of education and related experience in a multi-level non-profit organization.
  • Minimum 5 - 7 years progressive fundraising experience.
  • Experience in working with youth and youth program development.
  • Demonstrated volunteer management experience.
  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years experience in fundraising data bases, such as Razor’s Edge, Convio.
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills, including the ability to make presentations to influence others.
  • Strategic, innovative, and creative thinker.
  • Strong time management and planning skills.
  • Ability to respond effectively to changing circumstances.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office (Word/PowerPoint/Outlook and Excel).
  • Valid driver’s licence and access to a reliable vehicle as travel will be required (must be able to travel throughout the province on a regular basis).
  • Non smoker.
 

WORKING CONDITIONS

 
  • Office environment with occasional requirements to work outside of regular office hours.
  • Occasional periods of extended travel and hours of work, including evenings and weekends and especially during Relay seasons.
  • Works outdoors and exposed to elements during key events.
  • May require packing and unpacking of materials up to 20 lbs.
  • Some travel required.
