The Centre for School Based Mental Health addresses the need for improved promotion, prevention, and intervention services for children who may be at risk for, or who present with, mental health challenges.
Reporting to the Centre's Director, the Manager is responsible for oversight of the Centre, ensuring smooth day-to-day running of research projects and compliance with University and sponsor/donor policies and expectations. There are also significant management duties associated with the training, knowledge mobilization, and sales functions of the Centre. The Manager will oversee the Summer Institute (an annual 2-3 day event) and the Continuing Education Certificate in School Mental Health (currently under development).
Qualifications
Education:
- University Degree in Social Sciences or Business
- Accounting designation is preferred
Experience:
- 3 years' administrative, human resources, and financial experience in an academic and research environment
- 3 years' supervisory experience
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret financial system data, as well as generate and compile data in a manner helpful and understandable for staff, accounting, and/or sponsors.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret and communicate policies and guidelines, with ability to deal with ambiguity and explore exceptions and options
- Ability to make creative and independent decisions and possess flexibility to adapt to the changing needs of the environment
- Highly organized and proficient at handling a significant number of tasks, duties and activities
- Meticulous attention to detail
- Ability to prioritize and perform work effectively under pressure
- Exemplary interpersonal, written and oral communications skills
- Professional, inclusive and supportive style
- Advanced technical knowledge of Microsoft Office suite and Web 2.0
- Ability to analyze complex situations, identify workable solutions, and make appropriate determinations based on regulations and the particular policies, sensitivities, and needs of the project
- Ability to work effectively with youth, educators, and community partners
