Accounting Analyst

Responsibilities:
  • Accounting support to the Facility Services Department, especially at year-end.
  • Responsible for the creation of purchase orders, processing of invoices, tracking and analysis of all capital projects
  • Leadership role in both maintaining Ebase project tracker and the Facilities Capital Planning and Management Software (VFA) ensuring all projects are tracked efficiently and effectively for reporting/analysis purposes
  • Supporting role in the new ERP implementation.
  • Key role in Capital Reporting.
  • Follow Ministry guidelines as well as generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), provide Business Services with a listing of Tangible Capital Asset additions for the major accounting reporting cycles.
  • Analyze and communicate results of monthly expense analysis to supervisor to ensure accuracy of the facilities departmental budget (includes providing recommendations and facilitating corrections)
  • Act as a gatekeeper for purchasing card transactions for the Facility Services Department - ensure accuracy of information submitted to Business Services
  • Perform continuous needs assessment to develop meaningful reporting to Facility Services Management regarding capital projects, departmental budgets as well as annual budget development
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
  • Community College Diploma in Accounting, Business Administration or related field
  • Minimum 3 years accounting experience in a similar role is required
  • Strong accounting skills required
  • Demonstrated effective communication skills (written and verbal) and organizational skills
  • Advanced level knowledge of spreadsheets, pivot tables, query, databases, accounting software and other computer applications required
  • Must be able to work effectively with minimum supervision
  • Demonstrated flexibility and ability to deal with competing timelines necessary
 
Job Specifications
Hours of Work Monday to Friday, 35 hours per week
Rate of Pay $35.11/hour
