The mission of the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry is to “provide outstanding education within a research-intensive, distributed learning environment where tomorrow’s physicians, dentists, health researchers and other scholars learn to be socially responsible leaders in the advancement of human health locally, regionally and globally”. Schulich’s Windsor Campus is a key contributor to the realization of Schulich’s distributed medical education mandate in Southwestern Ontario as it offers both undergraduate and postgraduate residency programs. The Distributed Education portfolio facilitates rural and regional education and training opportunities to undergrad and post graduate learners. 

The Associate Director Integrated Medical Education – Southwestern Ontario is responsible for providing leadership and direction through the planning, development and operation of the Distributed Education portfolio and the Windsor campus of the Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry.  The Associate Director is accountable for providing strategic, administrative and operational leadership to ensure the effective and efficient operation of all facets of the Distributed Education portfolio and the Schulich Windsor campus. The Associate Director ensures there is an aligned relationship amongst Schulich Medicine’s main and regional distributed campuses and that there is efficient and effective use of financial, human relations and physical resources. The Associate Director ensures there is compliance with policies, procedures, regulations and legislation (both internal and external) and that all academic undergraduate and postgraduate medical education accreditation requirements are met at the regional sites and the Schulich Windsor Campus. The role will foster regional hospital relationships including executive liaison, oversight and support of all of Schulich’s regional based affiliate hospital agreements.

Education:
-   Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline (e.g. Education, Health, Administration, Business)
-   Masters Degree in Business Administration, Human Resource Development, Education, or related field is preferred
-   Completion of, or working towards, Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation is preferred

Experience:
-   10 years' administrative, human resources, and financial experience in a complex unionized office environment
-   Experience in strategic planning, implementation and operationalization
-   Experience leading/supervising a team
-   Experience in program evaluation and project management
Preferred:
-   Experience in negotiations
-   Experience in marketing and business development
-   Senior management experience in a University or academic environment
-   Familiarity working with the Ministry of Health and hospital management

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
-   Knowledge and experience in financial management, annual budget development, coordination, tracking and reporting
-   Analytical skills to review periodic financial results and make appropriate recommendations
-   Ability to organize and effectively manage financial and human resources needed to achieve results
-   Well-developed presentation, group facilitation, and public speaking skills
-   Communication skills with the ability to converse with, write reports for, and deliver presentations to all levels of the organization
-   Compelling and persuasive communication skills to engage individuals in the organization and in the community.
-   Creative problem-solving skills and sound professional judgment, especially regarding confidential/sensitive matters
-   Project management skills, with the ability to meet tight deadlines and  perform well under pressure
-   Openness to recognize when change is necessary, and to develop, implement and lead effective change management strategies
-   Ability to clearly communicate the outcomes one is accountable for, including decision making authority and performance expectations
-   Ability to make decisions and recommendations that are clearly linked to the organization's strategy and goals
-   Proven ability to build both formal and informal professional relationships within, across, and external to organizational boundaries
-   Ability to demonstrate a high level of professionalism and to work effectively and efficiently with internal and external clients at all levels of the organization
-   Ability to foster engagement and development of staff through coaching, managing performance, and mentoring
-   Ability to work in a manner that models best practices in confidentiality standards
-   Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage activities both for self and others effectively
-   Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite
-   Valid driver’s license with access to a vehicle to travel within the city and the Southwestern Ontario region including Windsor
