An opportunity exists in our Kitchener, ON office for a highly motivated Intermediate Mechanical Engineer or Technician/Technologist, to become part of a dynamic group providing professional services to our clients in the buildings sector. As the successful candidate you will assume the position of Mechanical Designer and be responsible for the design and CAD drafting of projects. Consideration will be given to candidates who have a strong CAD background.
Reporting to the Team Leader, with regards to the technical team’s workflow, the successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Producing aspects of mechanical design and drawings in AutoCAD;
- Organizing and maintaining a design and CAD digital file database for each project;
- Successfully carrying out assignments on project design teams;
- Undertaking the detailed design and working drawings of HVAC, mechanical, plumbing, fire protection;
- Review equipment selections, perform preliminary engineering calculations and develop preliminary designs;
- Perform field surveys for drawing developments, site reviews and as recorded drawings;
- Work with a team of multi-disciplined engineers and technologists;
- Facilitating and ensuring the quality of design, drawings and graphic work produced for the team;
- Ensuring that the projects’ needs are met in terms of project work plan schedules and budgets.
- Post-secondary education in Architectural or Mechanical Engineering/Technology;
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a mechanical consulting engineering environment;
- Experience with HVAC, mechanical piping or fire protection design;
- Experience in the Industrial, Commercial or Institutional sector would be an asset;
- A comprehensive knowledge of AutoCAD is essential;
- REVIT experience will be considered an asset;
- Ability to clearly communicate with suppliers, clients and team members.
Knowledge in construction management, construction contracts, specification writing and report presentation, estimating, building regulations and construction surveying is preferred.
