The Office of the Registrar aims to provide the best student experience to students from the initial point of contact though their stay at Western, convocation and beyond.
 
As a key member of the Student Services Support Group, the Human Resources Specialist facilitates the implementation of human resources practices, policies and programs that support the strategic goals of the portfolio (Registrarial Services, Teaching and Learning Services, Student Experience, Student Development Centre, Student Entrepreneurship and Student Success Centre). The incumbent will act as a resource and provide guidance and support on all human resources related issues in compliance with Western policies, procedures, collective agreements and government legislation. The Human Resources Specialist is a first point of contact and is accountable for resolving issues and responding to inquiries.
 
Qualifications
Education:
-   Undergraduate University Degree
-   Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL) designation

Experience:
-   3 years' progressive experience in Human Resources administration and recruitment
-   2 years' experience supporting the Human Resource function in a unionized environment
-   Experience working in the public sector or post-secondary institution is preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
-   Advanced knowledge of human resource principles, practices and legislation
-   Influential interpersonal skills with an ability to develop and foster credible relationships with leaders, staff and other stakeholders at the University
-   Excellent verbal and written communication skills and confidence dealing with all levels of an organization to handle enquiries and resolve issues in a professional and timely manner
-   Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and set appropriate priorities in a fast-paced setting with changing deadlines
-   A strong record of teamwork with the motivation and ability to work independently with little supervision
-   Possesses a reputation for resourcefulness with a strong sense of accountability and initiative
-   Proven creative problem-solving skills and sound professional judgment, especially regarding confidential/sensitive matters
-   Advanced skills with Microsoft Office products
-   Demonstrated commitment to ongoing learning and professional development
