POSITION SUMMARY:

-Contract opportunity to start, potential for permanent placement after contract term.

Design and implement broad range of manufacturing processes for electrical/ electronic product with continuous focus on improving safety, quality and productivity. Execute small to large capital projects within the operation environment. Responsible to define/ revise standard work instructions and training of operators in the execution of those instructions. Responsible for daily production support and resolution of product and process issues impeding production schedule. Effectively implement standard product changes into the manufacturing system to ensure timely disposition of inventory, revisions to work in process and updating of production data, equipment and work instructions. Support global production sites for process standardization and share best practices.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:

• Define and develop method for electronics/ electrical product manufacturing and assembly processes.
• Assist production personnel on proper assembly and manufacturing, quality of product produced, and proper safety practices.
• Investigate, solve and report on manufacturing problems relating to piece parts and assemblies. Trace quality defects back to vendors of parts purchased outside. Communicate with others to identify and coordinate solutions to problems of similar nature to same products built in both facilities.
• Perform value analysis on new and existing products to reduce costs through researching new manufacturing methods and proposed design changes. Coordinate the project with other departments by chairing the meeting, preparing project plans and follow-up. Responsible for cost reductions by proposing new or revised manufacturing procedures. Investigate and propose make versus buy decisions on new and existing products to help grow the business.

• Support material review board (MRB) to disposition defective parts/ components.
• Design new tooling and fixtures with the aid of AutoCAD and responsible for existing tooling to support manufacturing of new products and improve quality and reduce manufacturing costs of existing products. Give guidance to toolmaker in manufacturing, rework and setup of new tooling.
• Assist in the review and update of Procedures and Detailed Work Instructions as they relate to the products for which we specialize. Investigate and develop new DWI’s to increase resources for shop floor personnel.
• Redesign production layouts to increase productivity. Assist in implementing visual factory, 5S and other Lean practices.
• Use lean sigma principal to eliminate wastage and improve efficiency and safety


EDUCATION REQUIRED:
University degree in Mechanical /Industrial Engineering Degree or related discipline with focus on mechatronics.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Minimum 2-5 years in a manufacturing environment
General knowledge of manufacturing processes and electrical/ electronics components
Knowledge of network infrastructure and interfacing to manufacturing applications
Knowledge of databases and their use for manufacturing.
Knowledge of sheet metal fabrication equipment and NC programming.
Excellent computer skills
Demonstrated lean proficiency
SAP experience an asset
