ACL Steel Ltd is looking for an experienced fitter / welder to join our growing team. The candidate must have 5 years of experience in the structural steel manufacturing industry The environment at ACL Steel Ltd. is fast paced and ever changingJob Responsibilities
- Inspect and maintain machinery and equipment
- Maintain delivery date and schedules
- Recognize, set up and operate hand and power tools common to the welding trade such as Shielded Metal Arc Welding and Gas Metal Arc Welding
- Lays out, positions, and secures parts and assemblies according to specifications, using straightedge, combination square, calipers, and ruler
- Attach slings, ropes, and chains to objects such as pipes, beams, angles, and flat bar
- Operate manual and semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments using processes such as Gas Tungsten Arc, Gas Metal Arc Welding, and Flux Core Welding
- Monitor the burning and weld process to avoid overheating of parts or warping, shrinking, distortion or expansion of metals
- Clean and lubricate equipment
- Count finished products to determine if product orders are complete
- Mark or tag identification on parts
- Lift raw materials, finished products, and packed items, manually or using hoists
- Have and maintain CWB certified welding tickets
- Sign off finished work
- Know and identify weld symbols
- Removes rough spots from work piece, using portable grinder, hand file, or scraper
- Welds components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions
- Ignites torch and adjusts valves, amperage, or voltage to obtain desired flame or arc

- Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Organization skills, problem solving, integrity, and task prioritization
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Minimum of 5 years related experience
