Job Summary:   The General Manager provides leadership for and is responsible for the financial performance and operational excellence of the company.  They assist in developing and expanding the company’s strength in the marketplace; assisting in the development and management of all day to day operations of the Company.
Responsibilities associated with performing the job:
  • Assist in planning, directing and coordinating all aspects of the company’s operations
  • Provides clear direction to team members by effectively communicating initiatives, priorities, and company strategy
  • Promotes sales of new, replacement components and aftermarket products to, contractors, builders and other relevant business segments
  • Owns the business in the local market, and delivers results on established Sales, Growth, and Profitability goals, partnering with Sales to pursue new sales opportunities.
  • Maintains a customer ready, merchandised showroom, warehouse, building and grounds
  • Manages daily operations and models excellent customer service with direct involvement in day-to-day service channels as appropriate
  • Manages and tailors inventory to needs of the market
  • Ensures accurate inventory through cycle counting and general operational excellence
  • Manages and controls departmental expenditures within agreed budgets
  • Recruits, hires, trains, performance and develops team with focus on excellent customer service and selling skills
  • Prioritizes and promotes an ongoing Health and Safety program
 
 
Skill/Knowledge/Experience required to perform the job:
  • Expert knowledge of HVAC systems a must
  • Effective at developing and maintaining strong professional relationships with customers, dealers, sales, and operations partners
  • Strong business acumen to position the company within the market in terms of promotions and customer awareness through the effective use of promotions, customer contacts, outbound calls, customer appreciation events – Need to think and act like an entrepreneur!
  • 5-10 years of relevant practical experience in warehousing is desirable
  • Minimum 2 year community college or University
  • Self-Starter and “hit the ground running” type of person
  • Must have good reading, writing, computational and analytical skills to manage financial department, computerized system and controls; 
  • Must develop a good knowledge of company’s accounting application software as it pertains to accounts payable, accounts receivable and perpetual inventory systems and operational skills involving the use of computers, calculators, and other office equipment;  must possess strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • In depth knowledge of company’s product lines, their applications and limitations, inherent cost/price structures and be knowledgeable of the building trades
  • Good organizational skills to assist in the planning and developing of all company operations
  • Self-confidence and ability to manage own activities
  • Must have good communication, interpersonal and management skills to be able to direct, manage, motivate and otherwise work effectively with others (i.e., staff, departmental managers); 
  • must be able to resolve operational and people/customer problems in a courteous and discrete manner;  must be tactful and use good judgment in dealing with people in general
