Computing Services provides secure, cost effective and innovative computing technology solutions for their business partners in the Division of Housing & Hospitality Services.  Organized into three teams, Client Support Services, RezNet and the Web Development, we collaborate to provide services in an attentive, friendly, high quality technical manner. 

The Computing Services team supports the daily operations of 15 business units with over 300 divisional staff across campus through our desktop, mobile & network infrastructure.  We support our users through full hardware & software solutions, including third-party and custom-coded applications and databases.

Computing Services provides technology services beyond the daily management of administrative systems and users to the greater campus community - students, faculty, staff - through a diverse offering of services, including:
   -   Internet access in university residences & on-campus apartments
   -   Off-Campus Housing Listings for students & Landlords
   -   Registration and on-site technology services for annual Conference Guests 
   -   Collection of $4M E-Commerce revenue through secure websites
 
The Web Application Developer is an instrumental member of the Web Team as part of Computing Services. The incumbent collaborates in the design, analysis, testing, implementation, security and maintenance of web based applications, information systems and web sites for multiple business units in the division of Housing and Ancillary Services.  Our team works on a diverse collection of projects in a dynamic environment and all team members are required to participate in both learning on the job and continued professional development to meet our variety of challenges.

As a resource person, the Web Application Developer plays a leading role in the coding, implementation and maintenance of multiple web projects. The incumbent provides recommendations and project management regarding the planning and delivery of all aspects of web services that target a wide range of audiences including staff, faculty, students, prospective students and their families, the London community and fellow education institutions.  The incumbent actively participates in both the short and long range visioning of the delivery of web services to administrative clients, then executes.
 
Qualifications
Education:
-   Undergraduate university degree or college diploma in a programming related field
-   Training in the principles of web software development and object-oriented programming is preferred

Experience:
-   1 year web application and database programming experience
-   Demonstrated knowledge of mobile technologies and mobile software development strategies is preferred
-   3 years' web application and database programming experience in a business environment is preferred
-   Project management and business analysis experience is preferred
-   Experience writing technical documentation for technical and non-technical users is preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
-   Thorough understanding of the concepts and application of web software development principles and object-oriented programming, including methodologies and frameworks
-   Proficient in the use of development tools & technologies, which may include the following:
 -  Developer tools: Dreamweaver, CF Builder, Eclipse IDE, Selenium IDE, Visual Studio
 -  Graphic tools: Fireworks, Photoshop
 -  Web Technologies: ColdFusion, .Net, HTML 5.0, XML. JSON, CSS 3, Javascript, Java, Ajax, JQuery, Model Glue, ColdBox, Bootstrap, W3C Standards, REST, SQL, Web Analytics, E-Commerce
 -  Project management tools: Jira, Confluence, Git (BitBucket)
-   Ability to design and implement SQL databases
-   Ability to create easy to use, intuitive web application interfaces for the end-user
-   Knowledge of testing methodologies
-   Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with technical and non-technical users
-   Ability to understand customer needs and expectations and provide excellent customer service directly and indirectly to satisfy expectations
-   Ability to think logically and possess thorough analytical and problem solving skills
-   Strong attention to detail and the ability to process information with high levels of accuracy
-   A strong record of teamwork with the motivation and ability to work independently with little supervision
-   Self-driven, independent thinker who is highly motivated and possesses an intrinsic passion for quality
-   Ability to establish and build healthy working relationships and partnerships with clients, peers and external stakeholders
-   Ability to work in a fluid and challenging work environment with changing deadlines
-   Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and set appropriate priorities in a fast-paced setting
