Job Description
East Elgin Concrete Forming Ltd. is currently recruiting for a Junior Estimator who is a team player to join our dynamic workplace.
The estimator is a direct contributor to the company by ensuring the execution of complete and accurate estimates. The individual effectively works with project developers, subcontractors, engineering services, clients and other organization personnel.

The estimator is a direct contributor to the company by ensuring the execution of complete and accurate estimates. The individual effectively works with project developers, subcontractors, engineering services, clients and other organization personnel.
Summary of essential job duties:
- The Estimator is responsible for the timely, efficient and accurate pricing
- Ability to read and understand instructions to bidders including but not limited to General Conditions, Special Conditions and Specifications, Technical Specifications and Project Schedule
- Ability to read blueprints.
- Ability to provide uniformity for bid estimates and to ensure that the same base is used for progress and productivity reporting on the job.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, make well-researched decisions and keep accurate, timely and complete records; and
- Identify opportunities to reduce manufacturing costs and create plans or scenarios for budget analysis to support proposed changes.
- Post-secondary school graduation from a construction, civil or structural engineering program;
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Windows.
- Able to read construction plans and specifications is required;
- Estimating experience and rebar quantitative take-off experience is preferred;
- Site experience with reinforced concrete is an asset;
- Quality Control experience in construction and concrete is an asset
