Job Description
Tasks:
This position is an integral part of the Extra Large AC Motor design team responsible for the mechanical design of Baldor / ABB motors manufactured at the Stratford, ON Canada facility. These XLAC motors range up to 15000 HP. Applications vary from pumps and compressors to mining applications and are uniquely designed to meet the customer’s specifications. This person will create drawings and assist in the general mechanical design of motors specifically related to the Extra Large AC product line.
- Work in a team environment with Mechanical and Electrical Engineers, as well as other Mechanical Designers. .
- Work with manufacturing personnel to resolve design issues and ensure manufacturability of designs.
- Review customer specifications for motors and create designs and bill of materials to produce a product that meets these specifications.
- Generate Solid Works and AutoCAD drawings of motor components.
- Provide design support to manufacturing.
- Create concept designs in a timely manner for customer review.
- Ensure customer and manufacturing deadlines are met.
- Generate and execute cost reductions.

Requirements:
- An Associate’s degree in Mechanical Design or Mechanical Drafting
- 5 to 10 years of relevant experience
