Reporting to the Assistant Vice-President (Alumni Advancement), the Senior Project Manager will lead the implementation of a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) Advancement Enterprise System on behalf of Alumni Affairs & Development for the University of Guelph community. The CRM system will provide an integrated data platform to effectively manage, measure and maintain relationships across the University. The incumbent will oversee all aspects of the CRM system implementation and be responsible for meeting project objectives.

The Senior Project Manager will lead the CRM system project from the initiation of the project charter to successful delivery, use and acceptance by its stakeholder community.

Key responsibilities include: creating, executing and tracking project plans (strategic and operational); managing the project’s scope, timelines, finances, and staffing requirements and performance planning; overseeing the supervision of new project staff; identifying and mitigating project risks; creating and executing a communication plan; developing and implementing an end-user training plan and testing plan; engaging and maintaining positive relationships with key stakeholders and the project team; project reporting; vendor negotiations and relationship management; working closely with and advising the senior administration and the project steering committee; and being the primary point of contact for the project.

Acting as the senior point of contact for the CRM system implementation project, the Senior Project Manager will receive and resolve all internal and external complaints and problems, which may at times be numerous or serious in nature. The incumbent will administer the project budget and will participate in budgetary planning. The Senior Project Manager will be responsible and accountable for the successful delivery of the overall CRM system.

Requirements of this position include: An undergraduate (Master’s degree preferred) in Business, Information Technology or related field plus 7 years related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Project management certification (PMI) preferred. Classes or a minor in Management or Communications preferred; experience in overseeing the successful implementation of significant IT systems; experience working in academic research administration or in planning and management; and experience with management of human and financial resources. Additional requirements include: excellent communication skills, both oral and written; strong interpersonal, decision making, and teamwork skills as well as a strong client focus, demonstrated high initiative, tact, diplomacy and sensitivity in handling sensitive issues; knowledge of academic policies; in depth knowledge of an academic/research environment; and superior leadership skills.
