The Faculty of Engineering at Western University is a vibrant teaching and research centre that consists of four departments; Chemical & Biochemical Engineering, Civil & Environmental Engineering, Mechanical & Materials Engineering, Electrical & Computer Engineering.  It is also home to several outstanding centres and research institutes. Approximately 1,500 undergraduate students are enrolled in one of our nine undergraduate programs and close to 590 graduate students are completing degrees at the master's or doctoral levels.

The Human Resources team at Western Engineering is a cohesive, collaborative team of professionals dedicated to supporting all programs, departments and units at Western Engineering.  We strive to support, recruit and develop Western Engineering's most valuable resource - it's employees.  We do this with integrity, responsiveness and professionalism by adhering to Western Engineering's Values statements to provide the best service to our employees.
 
The Human Resources Coordinator is responsible for carrying out a broad range of staff and faculty related functions within the human resources practice.  The incumbent will provide support and act as a resource for faculty appointments, staff job descriptions, staff recruitment, faculty & staff on-boarding and orientation, maintenance of policies and procedures, sabbaticals, annual performance evaluation, workload, leaves, record maintenance and report generation.
 
Qualifications
Education:
-   University Degree, with completion of professional courses in Human Resources
-   Working toward CHRP designation is preferred

Experience:
-   5 years' progressive experience in Human Resources administration
-   Experience supporting the Human Resource function in a unionized setting
-   Experience in an academic setting or in the public sector is preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
-   Excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to work in a respectful manner with a diverse community of faculty and staff, co-workers and others
-   Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
-   Intermediate computer skills in Word, Excel, Outlook, and database experience
-   Highly proficient in PeopleSoft / HRIS systems
-   Extremely organized, detail-oriented and superior multi-tasking skills
-   Knowledge of human resource principles and practices
-   Strong customer service skills to handle enquiries and resolve issues in a professional and timely manner
-   Understanding of privacy regulations and ability to work confidentially
-   Excellent judgment with the ability to make sound assessment of urgency and appropriate consultations for resolution
