What is the role?

In order to maximize cash flow, the Accounts Receivable department coordinates the timely payment of outstanding invoices while ensuring We are a robust and flexible department with highly skilled staff who are knowledgeable in every aspect of transactional processes to ensure each group realizes their mandates to the fullest potential.

As a Collections Specialist reporting to the Supervisor, you initiate outbound collection calls to negotiate and coordinate the timely payment of outstanding invoices from our customers to achieve our departmental collection goals. You identify and resolve issues where possible, referring and monitoring resolution of those issues where internal departmental resolution is not possible. You will also establish key internal relationships with the orders to cash teams, to address any collection related issues that occur.

Our Collections Specialists are highly self-motivated individuals that efficiently employ sound judgment in a dynamic environment with minimal supervision. Their professionalism and dedication to accuracy ensures that all dealings with others are addressed promptly within tight time frames.

What you will do:

• Contact customers prior to invoices becoming due to ensure payments are received within approved terms; follow up on current collection activities
• Liaise with Sales, Professional Services Project Managers & other internal staff to facilitate collection of invoices and resolution of disputes
• Identify and escalate invoice issues to the appropriate individual for resolution and ensure items are followed up on a weekly basis
• Attend collection status meetings

Position Requirements:

• 3+ years of experience in commercial collections with strong credit management and accounting knowledge

• Strong interpersonal skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with French is a must
• Strong organization and time management skills with proven ability to adapt to shifting priorities and deadlines
• Ability to work independently with minimum supervision in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
• Post-secondary Diploma/Certificate/Degree from a recognized College or University

Additional Qualifications:

• Ideally, the candidate will be registered in a program leading to an Accounting Designation or Professional Credit Designation
• Intermediate to Expert level experience in the following software packages is an asset: SAP, Great Plains, Oracle and Microsoft Office
