Job Summary
- Manage and lead the Manufacturing department Production Coordinators, team leaders, and team members for assigned areas/shifts to ensure safety, quality, positive work environment, customer requirements, and manufacturing needs are met through Vuteq Canada philosophies
- Provide leadership and motivation to direct reports in manufacturing system that emphasizes safety, quality, productivity, cost reduction, 5S, training, teamwork, and morale
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Leads and manages manufacturing activities (Injection Molding Areas, Mold and Machine Maintenance, Paint Line and Assembly areas) related functions for assigned areas/shift to meet customer requirements
- Ensure manufacturing operations are running effectively in the areas of safety, quality, efficiency/productivity, cost, and team member development
- Provide direction and motivation to Production Coordinators while focusing on company goals outlined on area F.M.D.S. boards (safety, quality, production, cost, and team member development)
- Conduct daily manufacturing production area audits to ensure procedures for safety, quality, equipment, and training are being followed and all aspects of manufacturing are effective including correcting sub-standards
- Lead development of Production Coordinators in process developments and ensure all team members are following standardized work
- Implement short and long term corrective actions for manufacturing problems (5P problem solving tools)
- Ensure all departmental procedures are compliant with quality and environmental management systems and programs
- Monitor daily build sheets and analyze efficiency rates and downtime to ensure customer requirements are being met.
- Lead Manufacturing supervision for assigned areas/shift in utilizing TPS techniques
- Learn, implement, and teach TPS techniques to manufacturing team members
- Coordinate and maintain standardization of processes/methods (follow documented/posted SWC’s) and one piece flow in Just in Time (JIT) production system
- Lead identification of manufacturing problems and eliminate waste
- Develop, lead, monitor, and participate in our Weekly Kaizen and Yearly Kaizen competitions
- Kaizen and develop processes that lower operating costs and increase efficiency; work with Vuteq Process Development (V.P.D.) group
- Implement, monitor, and maintain a clean, organized department through 5S activity
- Support development and management of company Goals and Strategies
- Ensure company department goals are met and kept on track. (KPI’s)
- Assists Plant Manager in developing, planning, and maintaining the budget including making adjustments to achieve targets
- Assist in the review and planning of headcount monthly for labour cost control and production efficiency
- Review and track Key Performance Indicators (KPI) including leading problem solving for negative trends or goals as shown on FMDS boards
- Assist with generation and report out of weekly/monthly reports with targets; update department plans to achieve targets
- Participates in management discussions and planning sessions to help reduce cost through Kaizen activities, process development, problem solving activities, and support presentation of daily/weekly/monthly operational performance
- Develops and maintains positive team member relationships and enforce Vuteq policies and rules of the Team Member handbook
- Provides direction and motivation to team members emphasizing safety, quality, productivity, cost reduction, and team member development
- Ensures further development of Production Coordinators, Team Leaders, and team members through performance evaluation, development of training plans, feedback, coaching, corrective action, and cascade training; update team member training matrix and schedule any training requirements
- Assist in preparation for trial event (DWI, layout, line stock, etc.) and participate in the build of trial product
- Assist in storage and control, as well as inspection and packaging of trial products
- Participate in review of trial events
- Must be capable of filling in for any position within the department and schedule staff vacations requirements
- Will participate in additional training and continuous education programs as outlined by Vuteq
Education
- High School diploma, GED or equivalent
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business, or related field preferred, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
- 10 Years of relevant work experience in a manufacturing automotive environment
- Greater than 5 year’s functional leadership experience as supervisor in a manufacturing environment.
