Senior Underwriting Consultant 

Agricorp is looking for a Senior Underwriting Consultant within our Program Quality Assurance & Performance Standards team in the Program Delivery division.

The Role

Reporting to the Team Lead, Program Quality Assurance & Performance Standards (with a dotted line to the Senior Director, Program Delivery), the Senior Underwriting Consultant will utilize industry best practice to establish and drive the development process, risk assessment guidelines and quality review process for the underwriting of Agricorp programs. This role is also responsible for ensuring that the consistency and quality of the underwriting processes is maintained throughout the organization and adhered to by established guidelines. In this role, you will:

  • Lead in the development of new and revised, end-to-end process using industry best practices with the goal of minimizing Agricorp’s risk and exposure in the area of the underwriting of Agricorp programs and enable high quality decision making
  • Lead in the development of various underwriting reports, technical tools, guidelines and manuals in support of underwriting management and field operations
  • Drive the in-depth review of all underwriting processes in order to identify process gaps and areas for improvement that align with industry and Agricorp best practice
  • Work in conjunction with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to develop and maintain an effective departmental quality review process to ensure that consistency of underwriting is maintained throughout the organization by confirming adherence to established guidelines and procedures
  • Recommend and identify training opportunities for the improvement of underwriting quality and process improvement
  • Obtain and research information through reports and analytical tools to monitor business activity and trends ensuring compliance with underwriting standards, regulatory obligations and business objectives
  • Participate on assigned project teams and other duties as an industry expert in the area of underwriting
  • Lead in the end-to-end review of underwriting function development to ready for future systems improvements
  • Establish and maintain credible relationships with key stakeholders across the organization to influence and effect critical business solutions in the area of quality underwriting
  • Provide advice and support to key stakeholders in the underwriting of Agricorp programs, ensuring recommendations reflect industry best practice
  • Resolve and manage escalated concerns related to underwriting process and quality guidelines
  • Develop risk-assessment process, practices and guidelines for the underwriting of Agricorp programs
  • Lead in the cross-functional review of existing underwriting processes and procedures

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in business or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 8-10 years insurance industry experience with a focus in underwriting
  • Experience in the underwriting of farm business is an asset
