Soybean Field Assistant (3 month term)-00VX7
Description
Monsanto Canada is a leading provider of technology-based solutions and agricultural products that improve farm productivity. Our research facility in Guelph, Ontario, is seeking several innovative and team-oriented individuals to join their Soybean Research team as Soybean Field Assistants for a 3 month term starting in September 2014.
Selected individuals have the opportunity to assist the Soybean Research Program withthe following:
- Operations related to field trials such note taking, combine and manual harvesting of soybean research plots and nurseries
- Computer related activities and provide support for testing activities
- Threshing, seed quality, evaluation and seed cleaning
- Seed preparation for winter nurseries
- Some off site travel during harvest season may be possible
- Participate in all Safety training and follow Safety policies
- Participate in ISO training and assist team to maintain Quality Standards
This is a great opportunity to get some hands on industry experience in a commercial soybean research program.
Qualifications
RequiredSkills/Experience:
- Highly organized and detail oriented
- Ability to work extended hours and weekends as required
- Ability to work effectively with teams or independently
- Ability to work outdoors in various environmental conditions
- Demonstrated ability to balance and prioritize tasks
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbal
- Experience utilizing MS Word and MS Excel
DesiredSkills/Experience:
- Field Research experience
- Knowledge of crop production
- Functional knowledge in agriculture including understanding of farm equipment operation, maintenance and repair
- Experience driving truck and trailer with an AZ, A or D license considered an asset.
