Gage Communications Job Description – Web Developer

Gage Communications is a Canadian communications and marketing agency that is seeking both contract and full-time Web Developers to join our team. 

We are based in Toronto, Ontario with a second office located in Sarnia, Ontario. We work with clients in varying industries and sectors across Canada and are looking for someone who specializes in custom-built website applications. The position can be filled by someone working remotely, but physical access to the Sarnia office is preferred (when government regulations allow).

Our requirements for this position are as follows:

Concept Understanding

• Full stack development
• Object-Oriented Programming Principles
• Refactoring
• How to write reusable code

Programming Knowledge

• Create HTML/CSS template from PSDs
• Familiar with local/staging/live workflow and Git
• Drupal or WordPress CMS experience
• Basic familiarity with the Unix shell
• Frontend development including CSS/Sass, HTML and JavaScript
• Minimum CSS knowledge: border-box model, pixels/ems, specificity
• Server side development including PHP, NodeJS
• Responsive website development
• WCAG 2.0 familiarity and accessible content development experience

• Can handle multiple projects at a time while achieving high standards
• Up to date knowledge of available and emerging technologies
• High awareness of industry issues and trends in regards to accessibility and usability  
• Keep team members informed with issues and trends. Plan to incorporate these in the process to stay ahead in the market
• Provide innovative new ideas
• Estimate the time/cost for a project with spec
