TEMPORARY EMPLOYEE & LABOUR RELATIONS COORDINATOR

JOB TITLE: Employee & Labour Relations Coordinator (temporary position ending August 2022)
LOCATION: Education Centre, London
SALARY RANGE: $44,801 - $59,248 per year (pending review)
HIRING RANGE: $44,801-$57,181 per year (pending review)
DATE OF VACANCY: As soon as possible

POSITION SUMMARY: Reporting to the Manager, Human Resources, the Employee and Labour Relations Coordinator will support a broad range of labour and employee operational functions. This position provides administrative support to meet department and related system objectives, responds appropriately to inquiries and effectively meets deadlines in a highly confidential and frequently changing environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provide support to the Human Resources Managers and the Employee Relations Team including scheduling meetings, preparing agendas, taking meeting minutes, maintaining files and sending correspondence
  • Coordinate union activities including scheduling labour management meetings, preparing and distributing labour management agendas, responding and tracking union leave requests and creating letters for annual executive extensions and leaves
  • Arrange grievance hearing schedules, intake and summarize grievance submissions and manage the Board’s grievance logs
  • Coordinate leave of absence and overdue medical correspondence
  • Gather applicable information requested for lawyers letters

WORK PERFORMED:
  • Respond to general Employee, Supervisor, Administration and labour inquiries while reflecting legislative and internal Board policies
  • Provide key team level support to ensure Employee and Labour Relations functions are carried out accurately and timely
  • Provide administrative support for job evaluation and collective bargaining committees
  • Improve department organization by archiving and digitizing human resource records
  • Provide confidential updates regarding employee status such as paid leaves of absence and termination queries
  • Update Board documents including re-formatting existing documents
  • Prepare reports for management including absence reports, market evaluation reports, etc.
  • Other projects and duties as assigned

QUALITIES/SKILLS/SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE:
  • Proficient in computer applications such as Outlook 365, MS Office Suite, etc.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with effective communication skills, both orally and in writing
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive employee information

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE: Successful completion of a two (2) year post-secondary program in Human Resources or equivalent or a degree combined with a post-secondary program in Human Resources or equivalent. One (1) year of Human Resources related work experience is required. Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel is required
