What would I be doing in this role at D2L?
D2L creates industry-leading web-based enterprise e-Learning systems as well as direct-to-consumer web and mobile apps. Our applications deliver material to millions of users worldwide every day.
In Operational Intelligence we strive to understand how those millions of users are using our applications. We are looking for superstar detectives to analyze and extract data from a variety of systems, aggregate that data in interesting ways, and help ensure all levels of the organization are able to make data driven decisions.
You already possess keen analytical and problem-solving skills and have a love of data and aggregation. You are constantly learning and looking for ways to improve. You are a key part of the organization, actively participating in critical operations.
Fulfill the duties of a Data Analyst with a focus on:
- Writing scripts/code to automate the extraction of data from third-party systems as well as D2L applications
- Writing reports and visualization mechanisms against collected data
- Ensuring the accuracy and quality of data
- Demonstrating above-average attention to detail by self-managing multiple tasks in parallel
- Maintaining local team development tools and infrastructure
- Applying creative problem solving skills while developing solutions and performing risk assessments
- Communicating technical information to other stakeholders
- Working with architects and specialists to determine how to work with various systems
- Liaising with project and product managers as required
What is D2L looking for from me?
- Experience with T-SQL and SQL Server 2008/2012
- Knowledge of mathematics and statistics
- Experience with software development and/or software triage
- Experience with SSIS and SSRS is considered an asset
- Experience with a variety of hosting appliances is considered an asset
- Experience with monitoring is considered an asset
- Experience with C#, .NET and Microsoft tools and technologies is considered an asset
- Knowledge of Agile and other project methodologies
