Position:
The Financial Analyst is accountable for the financial reporting and control for all plant related expenditures to support production including inventory, labour, plant expenses and capital and support the Finance department as necessary including financial reporting, planning and controls and all month end related activities
 
Duties and Responsibilities:

• Forecast the cash flow forward for a minimum 3 month projectio
• Prepare the weekly bank reconciliations and record bank transactions and loan payments
• Prepare standard costs in support of regular or one time Planning (budget and forecasting) cycles
• Update standard costs in the bill of materials
• Review actual and standard/budget costs for inaccuracies
• Report on periodic variances and their causes, focusing in particular on spending variances
• Review actual and standard/budget costs and detail causes of variances and action plans to address unfavourable items
• Validate the cost of goods sold as part of the month-end close
• Accumulate and apply overhead costs as required by generally accepted accounting principles
• Support cost reduction initiatives by partnering with Marketing, Operations and Supply Chain through analysis of proposals and validating, tracking and reporting of projects
• Create new product costs and new product P&Ls in support of new business opportunities
• Partner with Financial Reporting to ensure Finance department activities are completed including department expense reporting, budgeting and planning, financial reporting & treasury functions,
• Analyze capital budgeting requests
• Calculate variances to budget/forecast and report issues and recommendations to management
• Communicate key results and risks with detailed commentary to prepare senior management in decision making
• Responsible for obsolete inventory analysis

• Accounting Designation (CA, CGA or CMA) or working towards
• Strong knowledge of external reporting requirements
• Strong computer literacy with manufacturing systems (MRP/ERP)
• Manufacturing experience
• Computer  literacy (Microsoft Office Suite)
• Strong organizational and presentation skills.
• Management experience is preferred but not required
